Jianbing Bar specializes in traditional Chinese street food, created nearly 2000 years ago in the Shandong Province. The Jianbing itself is one of China’s most famous street food specialties: its thin and crispy, like a crepe, but better.
The Jianbing is made with corn, mung bean, rye and buckwheat and flavoured with black and white sesame seeds. It comes in so many different varieties, you could eat it all day! Best known in China as a breakfast dish, their breakfast Jianbing comes with eggs, sausage, bacon and scallions, served with Bell Lane Coffee roasted in Mullingar!
For lunch or dinner, their savoury Jianbing is served with a choice of slow-cooked duck, beef, or a vegetarian option with falafel and mixed salad. Of course it can also be vegan so just ask when you are ordering. For something sweeter, they have the Nutella and Strawberry Jianbing, with fresh cream strawberries and banana. The simple pleasure of the Jianbing drizzled with lemon juice and some sugar is also one of our favourites.
They also serve Bubble tea, which is just becoming popular in Europe – but it’s actually been a hot (or cold!) favourite in countries like Hong Kong, China and Taiwan since the 1980s. An incredibly unique looking beverage, Bubble tea is a Taiwanese recipe made by blending a tea base with milk, fruit and fruit juices, then adding the signature “bubbles” – yummy tapioca pearls that sit at the bottom. It’s a sweet, cool refreshing and really delicious treat. It comes in as many flavours as there are teas and fruits, so you can pick and choose.
